THE BEST OF 2022 - PART 1

Here you go, kids. The first part of my look back at some of my fave releases of 2022. The first hour centers around local bands and other friends of the show who I've been lucky enough to do gigs with, and in the second half, we open it up to global releases. And best of all, Swansong, the DJ of another WUSC show called The Swan Song, sat in with me for the entire episode. This one was a blast! Jame Lathren of Columbia's own Candy Coffins stopped by the studio for a chat. We talked about his writing process, discovering new music, and a lot more. We also played a slew of new releases and worked in a little tribute to Kevin Conroy. Dig it! 

CORRECTION: A couple of times, I mention that Vision Video and Secret Shame are playing at Swanson's Warehouse in Greenville, SC on 11/18, but that's not correct. It will actually be at The Velo Fellow. Sorry about the confusion! Got my clubs mixed up.

This was a totally different show than what I'm used to doing, but it turned out to be a great time. For one, I was unusually unprepared. I almost always come in with the playlist meticulously planned, but I comepletely winged it this time. But, the best surprise was that Dub Deezy of One More Saturday Night, the show before mine, sat in and kept us all company. In between impromptu sets, we chatted about the history of WUSC, nostalgia for the days of AIM, and kept everyone updated on how the USC/Vanderbilt game was going. Dig it!

10/29/2022 - THE 2022 RETRO HALLOWEEN SHOW!

This is the one it all leads up to, kids! We spent Halloween day in 1980-something! Imagine Halloween morning, afternoon, and evening as a kid. You wake up early and spend the day flipping through morning shows, news reports, commercials, the radio, daytime TV, and finally primetime TV, as you get ready to go out trick-or-treating. We collapsed that entire day's experiences into a two hour show. Oh, and best of all, we were joined by fan favorite mortician, and my bestie, DONNA PURGE! We talked about our first halloween costumes, favorite candy, and she gave us the nitty-gritty of what it's really like to work in the funeral business. Dig it! 

10/15/2022 - THE FALL FUNDRAISER SHOW

This was our Fall Fundraiser episode! So, Top 40 restrcitions were lifted and I got to play anything I wanted! We also got into some horror talk where I gave my straight thoughts on the new Hellraiser and Halloween Ends, for good or bad. And lawd knows, there was some of both. Dig it!
